Round 7: Don't Use These Tips!

... No really... don't use these tips this week! There are so many close games this week that we suggest you go your own way choose your own winners (there will be no Fleetwood Mac references in this blog, thank you very much!).

Round 7 throws out a few great games for the weekend, and gives us our first Monday night burst for the year.

Starting off the weekend is Melbourne v Hawthorn. Which means a prime-time session for Hawthorn to apply a bit of the old ultraviolence on Melbourne. Or for the Neeldy-Dees to stand up again after good performances v St. Kilda and Geelong.

Saturdays key game: the Newbies go head to head in the game of the round - GWS v Gold Coast. And we at the FootyMaths Institute are quite serious about that call... When was the last time two new teams played head to head?
1- 1997: when Port Adelaide played Brisbane Lions (Lions as a merger were a 'new entity' but with experienced players).
2- 1987: with the introduction of the Brisbane Bears and West Coast Eagles.

and before then...
3- way back in 1925: when Footscray, Hawthorn and North Melbourne entered the VFL.

So the GWS / Suns game is quite an historic and important match.

Tailing out the weekend is the St. Kilda v Carlton game on Monday night... who will win? Will it rate on Channel Seven? Will anyone go, ...or even care?

So to the Round 7 predictions...
Each week we chose and highlight the close on of the week, but for this round we are blessed with a fist full of close ones.
The FootyMaths Supercomputer, before the foofer valves blew*

The wonderful FootyMaths Supercomputer blew a few foofer valves in running its calculations, and after exhaustive over-night repairs (and a few games of Pong while chowing down on pizza), we could finally determine the weeks tips...
And these are the close games of the week....

 - The Saturday afternoon "Battle of the New Boys" - GWS v Gold Coast, with the Suns to win by a goal.

 - Richmond v Sydney at the MCG for a Saturday twilight game, with Sydney tipped for a 9 point win.

 - Saturday Nights' Essendon v West Coast clash, with West Coast tipped to win by 11 points.

 - Sunday afternoon it should be the Western Bulldogs by the smallest margin of the week, 3 points against North Melbourne.

 - The Monday night special: St. Kilda v Carlton, and the visitors are tipped by a 4 point margin.

To the full list of tips...

No major losses are on the cars for the Blow-Out Bin this week.
